We have a new baby in our family. Ziah is a delightful eight-month-old little girl. She has added life and brightened up our entire family. For Mother's Day this year I thought of a gift that would be meaningful to all three generations of mothers in our family.
I went online and looked for companies that sell charms to make custom necklaces. I found a plethora of different kinds of charms, pendants, stones, chains and sets of letter charms to use for this project. None of which were very expensive, and so I had lots of options. I thought the charms should represent each of the kids and grandchildren in the family. For my daughter, who was a first-time mother this Mother's Day, I put on a little round silver charm with an engraved “Z” on it to represent her daughter Ziah. I also included a blue sapphire stone which is Ziah’s birth stone, a letter "J" to represent her husband Joe and a little silver heart.
For my wife, who is a first time grandmother, I included the same “Z”, Sapphire and heart charms for Ziah, but I added the letters to represent her two children. And for my mother, the new great grandmother, I did the same thing except adding two more letters representing her other two grandchildren.
This gift was a big hit with all three mothers. I don't think any of the three have taken off their necklaces since receiving them on Mother's Day.
